It is used to play CDT files (games and apps) from a MicroSD card through an audio cable into where the tape deck would normally plugin, thus eliminating the need for a 30-year-old tape deck. It's a play-only function. Simply find your favourite game or app in CDT file format, copy it to the SD card, and the rest is straightforward. It was designed for MSX computers. It's based on Maxduino firmware. If you want to see it in action, watch this video > HERE < or watch a 3rd party review >HERE< . Now with mostly SMD components.

Do not get a cheap microSD card. If you have a CPC 464 without an audio mod, you are probably better off adding the cassette converter. If you have a CPC 6128 or a CPC that has the same cassette port as the 6128, you can add the data cable option, too.
Please note that firmware also supports other (TO DATE) maxduino-supported file formats and can be used with other computers, like ZX Spectrum.
