1. Overview and acceptance of terms

This website is operated by You Make Robots. By visiting this site and/or purchasing items, you engage in our service and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”), including all policies referenced herein. These Terms apply to all users of the site, including without limitation browsers, customers and contributors of content. Please read them carefully before accessing or using our site. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access the website or use any services.

2. Our business and contact information

We are You Make Robots, an online shop based in the United Kingdom specialising in small electronic devices designed to enhance vintage computers. Our business name, contact details and address are set out on our contact page and in our legal notice. In accordance with UK distance‑selling legislation, we provide clear descriptions of our products, prices inclusive of all applicable taxes, accepted payment methods and delivery arrangements. If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us using the contact details provided on our website.

3. Eligibility

By agreeing to these Terms, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your country of residence or have obtained parental consent for any minor dependants. You may not use our products for any illegal or unauthorized purpose or violate any laws (including copyright laws).

4. Products and descriptions

We design and sell small electronic devices intended to enhance the functionality of vintage computers. Many of our products are handmade or built in limited batches. While we endeavour to ensure that product descriptions and photographs are accurate, minor variations may occur. We test our products in batches to assess quality and dispatch items in good working order. However, compatibility with individual machines can vary, and you should ensure that products meet your requirements before purchase.

5. Prices and payment

Prices for our products are displayed in British pounds sterling and include all applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change prices or discontinue products at any time without notice. Payment must be made through our accepted payment providers at the time of order. You agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase and account information and to update your details promptly.

6. Delivery and shipping

  1. Dispatch and delivery – Packages are generally dispatched within 3–5 working days after receipt of payment and may be shipped with or without tracking. Smaller items in the UK may be sent via standard mail. We will deliver goods within 30 days unless we agree otherwise. Risk of loss passes to you once the goods are delivered. While special care is taken to protect fragile objects, you accept that the package is dispatched at your own risk.

  2. Shipping fees – Shipping fees include handling, packing and postage costs. Handling fees are fixed, but transport fees vary by total weight. Orders placed separately will each incur shipping fees. We advise you to group your purchases into a single order.

  3. International deliveries and customs – We ship worldwide, but customs fees and taxes may be charged by your local authority. We take precautions to minimise extra tax, but we cannot control charges imposed by customs once the goods arrive.

7. Cancellation, returns and right to cancel

  1. Right to reject faulty goods – The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you a right to reject goods that are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described within 30 days of purchase and obtain a full refund. After 30 days, you may request a repair or replacement; if a repair or replacement is not possible or fails, you may be entitled to a refund or price reduction.

  2. Return policy – International returns are not accepted. UK returns are accepted within 28 days of purchase, and the buyer is responsible for return postage. Returned goods must be unused and in original packaging. We reserve the right to refuse returns that do not comply with this policy.

  3. Non‑refundable items – Customised or personalised items and downloadable software are excluded from the cancellation and returns policy unless they are faulty.

8. Warranty and liability

Our products are sold “as is” and without any express or implied warranties beyond those required by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, loss, claim or damage arising from the use of our products, including indirect or consequential damages such as loss of data or damage to your computer. In particular, we will not be held liable for any damages incurred through the use of items sold through this store. Our liability for any claim shall in any event be limited to the purchase price paid for the product.

9. Use of the website

You agree not to use our website or its content for any unlawful purpose, including: (a) violating any international, national or local laws; (b) infringing our intellectual property or that of others; (c) transmitting viruses or malicious code; (d) collecting personal information of others; or (e) interfering with security features.
